Wearing a Thobe – The Key Mistakes That You Have to Avoid (Part One)

  • 2 min read

You want to look the part in your thobe. In fact, that’s so important that we wrote an article about it just a few months ago.

If you check that out, you’ll know what you need to do to look great in your thobe.

But in this article, we want to look at the other side of the coin. It’s time to look at the mistakes that you have to avoid if you want to look great while wearing your thobe.

Mistake #1 – Getting it Measured Wrong

If your thobe’s too big for you, it’s going to look billowy and may make you seem like you’re carrying more weight. Beyond that, it’s going to hang off your body and may even get caught underfoot when you’re walking.

But a thobe that’s too tight will feel uncomfortable all day. Plus, you may find that it clings to your body in ways that you don’t want it too.

You can avoid all of these issues if you simply make sure that you choose the right measurements when selecting your thobe. We don’t need to go into the details here as we’ve already created a post that tells you what you need to do. Follow the tips in that post and you’ll feel certain that you’re buying the right size every time.

Mistake #2 – Choosing the Wrong Footwear

Thobes come in all sorts of different colours. Your job is to make sure that your footwear matches the thobe.

For example, let’s imagine that you have a gorgeous and pure white thobe. Wearing a pair of black trainers with that thobe just isn’t going to cut it. You’re doing this great job of drawing attention to what you’re wearing, only to ruin it all with the wrong type of footwear.

If you really want to look the part, make sure that what you have on your feet reflects the quality of the garment that’s on your body. Ideally, you’ll go for more formal attire than trainers. Plus, you’ll make sure that your shoes don’t contrast the colours of the thobe so boldly that you create a weird fashion juxtaposition.

And by the way… going sockless with a thobe isn’t advised either. We know that it’s a bit of a trend right now. However, you’ll look a little strange flashing your ankles while wearing a thobe, especially during formal occasions.

Mistake #3 – Wearing a Baseball Cap With Your Thobe

Baseball caps work with a lot of things. They’re great for when you’re wearing trendier clothes and they can certainly add a lot to various ensembles.

But they’re not advised when you’re wearing a thobe. By its very nature, a thobe is a more formal garment. Wearing a baseball cap with a thobe creates this odd contrast in styles that just looks a little off.

A taqiya or hijab is a much better choice when you’re wearing a thobe.

To be Continued…

That’s part one of the mistakes that you want to avoid when you’re wearing a Thobe.

We’ll have part two uploaded on the blog in the coming weeks. But if you’re confident that you can wear your thobe with style and grace, why not check out our new collection today?
